I was amazed when I was driving home from work and saw these beautiful animals at the side of the road! I stopped the car and turned around to get a photo. The bottom photo was taken from across the road and then I turned around to get a closer photo (top photo). The mom was keeping a close eye on me :) Aren't those babies cute!?

Blown out tire on the state line of Maryland and Delaware.

Fortunately we were only a short distance from a tire repair shop and it was fixed and we were back on the road within an hour. We had a good spare tire so it only cost us $20 to get the tire changed.

A tight squeeze on a bridge to Frances Slocum State Park, our final night's stay on our way home. The pavement on the edges of the road on this bridge were all broken up so it was quite unnerving driving so close to the side of the bridge.

Too cold in Pennsylvania for camping so we were alone except for one other camper in this state park!! Very hilly area so I'm sure it would be beautiful in the summer and fall!

We woke up to a very chilly morning......brrrrrr!

This brave couple walked across the highway stopping traffic in both directions and then walked over to see what I was doing. They came right up to me......probably hoping for some food. :)

At a scenic stop on the bridge, I took this photo of the area where there is no bridge and where the tunnel is under the water.

Bub went over and laid beside Pumpkin in the sun. They'd both had flea baths and were feeling much better but last night we found more fleas on Pumpkin.....so far none on Bub so I'm trying to keep him away from Pumpkin but not sure that will last thru until we leave to go home! Darn fleas!!!

Not much to report on for this day......just stayed around the house, then dodged a tornado around 10:30 pm LOL The tornado was supposed to be on its way to our area and all were told to take shelter NOW (about 10:12pm) so we prepared the closet with pillows and blankets but it never arrived, thank goodness!! There was still a "watch" until 2 am so I slept very lightly for awhile that night but nothing happened :)

Photo of some pelicans gliding along the top of the water. They are fun to watch as they glide in single file just above the water. The lead pelican will flap his wings and the rest will follow, then will glide and the rest will follow. If the lead swoops downward, the rest follow and so on! It's quite interesting!

Easter Sunday, Darren had to work during the day so we took a walk downtown and saw these pretty houses. We then hung out at Darren's until work was done. We then picked up Darren and went to Sunday night Reggae, where they play Reggae music and some dance but all drink on the docks. So that was an experience but I forgot my camera so didn't get the photo! ;)

Then we went for dinner at a small Italian restaurant not far from Darren's house. The manager came over to greet us and he looked at John and asked where he was from. He told him Canada but said that he was born in Argentina. The guy said, no it's not possible! He said I'm from Argentina! So we had quite a night talking to him! He was very nice and the wine was on the house ;) We had great food and a nice Easter together! Of course I forgot to take the photo but maybe I'll get a chance to go back and at least get the photo of the restaurant LOL

Very windy and cold!!! Ventured near the water but turned around and went back the motorhome. Headed to Walmart to park but found out that there was no overnight parking there so then we had to come up with a new plan.

Next plan: Encore RV Park at Laurel, Florida

We stopped at a State Park just north of here but there were no sites available. They gave us a list of RV parks so we went to the closest one and turned out to be VERY reasonably priced and a sort of paradise resort! They have everything here (except a hot tub :( )

Shuffleboard, tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, Amazing pool (heated to 85 F always), pool tables, ping pong, mini golf, canoes (although beside the canoes there are 2 signs posted to watch for alligators.....not much chance of me going in a canoe LOL), golf putting green, exercise room, tv and library room, recreation centre! I think I could live here. There's also a ton of activities that go on everyday, like painting workshops, sewing club....sound like me??

The people are really friendly too......but I suppose that's because we're all in paradise LOL

A state park we stopped at after leaving Alligator Alley. We stayed for the afternoon while John fished and I read a book. There were a lot of canoes and kyaks going up and down the river so he didn't have any success fishing. We also kept an eye out for Alligators since it was posted that they could be present.

Not sure what kind of trees these are but they have some interesting clusters of growths all through them. The clusters look like nests but they are growing from the branches.

Bahia Honda State Park. We were on our way back from Key West and decided to stop at the State Park to see if we could get a site. Highly unlikely to get a site unless you reserve in advance but you never know. We pulled up and the lady said they had one site for one night and it only came available about 10 minutes before we arrived!!!! We were so excited. Unfortunately we couldn't get a second night but we enjoyed the first :) Here are some pics from our stay there.

Terrible pic of me but what can I do!!! The park ranger that signed us in drove past us as we took a walk to the other side of the park and stopped to take a photo of the 3 of us together.

Sunset was comin' but as it got lower, it disappeared behind some clouds so couldn't get the sun setting on the ocean.

Darren wanted us to go play Bacci Ball at the beach after lunch so we trekked down and tried setting up an umbrella for poor me, who was already sunburned a bit. The wind was very strong though so that didn`t work and I went home with Bub and umbrella, while they stayed and played. While there, a cold front came thru and they literally felt the temperature drop about 10 degrees F within a moment! Crazy!

A slight chance of thunderstorm forecasted for tonight around 8 pm, came a bit early (2pm to 3:30pm) and ended up being a downpour with major wind switching directions and sending hail as well!!! We have a flood outside our door that would require us to pull the motorhome forward in order to leave the without drowning. Oops, as I`m writing the rain is picking up again. There are no more menacing clouds in sight though so hopefully it will taper off. Disregard that, the thunder is sounding again. Yikes.....good thing we have no where to go ;) Yup, there`s more rain coming and the wind is picking up again. Of dear.....at least we are warm and dry :)

Playing with my camera on Saturday at the beach. Still having a hard time getting my settings right in Manual (grrrrr) but I won't give up ;) This is the pier down the beach from where Darren lives. I love the texture and weathering of the pillars! They are encrusted with shells and barnicles on the bottoms.

Yesterday we went with Darren and his friend Jason to the North Beach where they went surfing. There was a cool breeze so we didn't stay too long watching them try to catch waves. I can't understand how they surf in that cold water with that cold wind but they do. Here are some pics I took while there.

Hardy Lake State Park near Austin, Indiana

We drove to Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky to tour the caves. John has always wanted to explore some caves in Kentucky (this stems back to the years he drove to Florida in the transport truck) so I found what I thought would be a good place to visit and Mammoth Cave was it. Turns out, it was a great choice as this is the longest cave system in the world. They had many options for cave tours so we picked the easiest since neither of us is in great physically fit condition and I will NOT go into small places too far underground. Next time I told John he can go tour wherever he wants and I'll wait in the motorhome ;)

Very interesting place with many stories of silly people doing silly things in dangerous places! As we walked to the entrance of the cave, the temperature dropped drastically! We went from t-shirts to coats and once in the cave, I wished I'd brought my winter lining for my jacket and my gloves!! Brrrr! We were down there about 1 hour and the depth was around 140 feet....not too bad. On our way out, the Ranger asked us to stop while he turned out all the lights so we could experience complete darkness. It was truly amazing! He told us that no matter how long we were in the is darkness, our eyes would never see more since there is no light at all and therefore nothing to adjust to. I thought of the blind and how this is what they experience their whole lives! It was a great experience that I won't probably ever venture into again but if I ever do, I hope I know how to take photos in dark places by then! Grrr, nothing worse than having a camera that will take great photos but not knowing how to use it!

Tired out already

Our trip to Florida started out at 6:30 am....a little later than we thought but early enough!

We travelled as far as Austin, Indiana where we found on the map a little green symbol saying there was a State park with camping. It looked closest to the highway so we went looking for it. On our way to finding it, we decided we were getting ourselves into the middle of nowhere so thought we'd turn around. As we turned and stopped on a sideroad, a truck turned behind us and was about to carry on down the road when he stopped and backed up. I watch too many CSI type shows and of course my mind wandered to places it shouldn't! The man was very kind and told John where to go (no, not that "where to go") so we carried on down the road we turned on! That turned out to be a narrow paved road with many curves and hills! We were really starting to wonder if we should turn around and go back to the civilized highway LOL We decided once we got to the end of the roller coaster ride, we'd go down to the park and see how it was. We drove up to the office and a lady came to the window and said that she had been sleeping until we drove up (in a southern drawl....I didn't think we were that far south, but apparently we were) She asked if we were from out of state and we said yes....she said that will be $7.00 and the site would be $17.35. John thought she meant it would be $17.35 total until after he'd paid and she asked for the extra $7.00. It was quite interesting but we paid and continued on. The park looked very nice as we drove in and it was. We had a nice camp site and there were quite a few in the campground. Of course, I had quite a few random thoughts of Criminal Minds type scenarios that could play out in the Hillbilly type setting....kept me awake for part of the night LOL.....I think I need a break from these shows!

Brian's birthday was yesterday and he turned 50! Now we are the same age for 17 days :) Today, my sister-in-law June (Brian's wife) threw a surprise party at the Centralia Community Centre. Mom and I helped her out getting things ready and Lisa, Bre, Mom and I decorated the place in the afternoon. To our surprise, it was actually a surprise for Brian! There was a great turn out and good reminiscing of the "old" days!

My Hibiscus tree is infested with some little bug....I think it's aphids....but despite that, it continues to bloom periodically.

Lil Bub had to get a hair cut before out trip to Florida. He got clipped good and shivered for the next 5 days so he had to wear his coat until we reached warmer climates ;)

Today, John and I visited Jen, Megan and Dylan! These are my adopted grandchildren (not Jen ;) ) and I babysat them for a few years before we moved. They are precious! Megan got the chicken pox a couple of weeks ago and passed it along to her brother who is almost finished them now. You can still see a couple of marks on Megan's face but Dylan is still covered with dried up marks. Jen's glad it is over ;)

The Sunset! Unfortunately, after rushing to capture this photo, I realized that the beach was under construction! So there are some ugly construction items in the way of the sunset and I couldn't get any closer to the beach than this as it's all fenced off.

There was a beautiful sunset happening so I was rushing to get to Grand Bend so I could take a photo of it over the lake. On the way I couldn't resist stopping to take this photo of a barn in the sunset ;)

Awww, isn't he cute! He's resting his head on his toy squeezy bone with his puppy dog on top of him.
Last night we were watching "Finding Nemo" and Bub was watching too. I tried to get a pic of it but of course he moved as soon as I did. It was so cute though.

I drove past this fence and just had to go back with my camera to get a photo of it all snow covered. It was prettier yesterday because the sun was out but this will have to do since I forgot my camera yesterday! There is an apple orchard in behind so it's very pretty :) (I'm posting for the 5th but I took this photo on the 6th)

More "moving to Toronto" happened yesterday. Lisa and I loaded up her car and off she went. Felt bad though that she had to unpack and haul all that up to the 5th floor all by herself. She did it and is somewhat settled now.

My Mom and Dad are 2 of the most important people to me. This is a wintry photo of their house. The tree in the foreground is a Magnolia Tree and it has the most beautiful grey velvety buds on it even in this COLD weather.

Today I went to Stratford to pick up Sara to take her to Mitchell for her medical for school. Before we went, Bre Sara and I had coffee at Tango's in Stratford. I love doing that :) (although Lisa was missing :( )
Of course it had to be another blustery day and the roads were treacherous but we took it slow! This was taken on my way home as I followed a tractor on Hwy 83 outside Exeter. Not sure what those tractors are doing when there's 5 feet of snow in the fields! ;)

What a morning! So COLD but so beautiful! The trees and weeds were all covered in thick white ice and these photos don't give credit to the beauty of it! The sun sparkled off these icy branches and the trees looked like they had white christmas lights in them. It was incredible!

While visiting Mom and Dad today, we caught sight of this sweet little woodpecker pecking away at the suet that Mom left out for it. I'll have to zoom in on this photo and re-post so you can see how cute he is :)
